'duckbill' trouser hem, Jaeha-Alex Kim - designer, New York Fashion a/w 2016, New York Fashion Week, signature garment, signature piece, trouser fashion, trouser hems, trousers, womenswear, womenswear designers

Designer, Jaeha-Alex Kim

was born in South Korea where he spent his formative years.

At age ten, his family immigrated to New Zealand.

Demonstrating a pronounced talent in fashion design

he presented his first collection at only 21 years old,

during New Zealand Fashion Week (2007).

…

His collection was received with thunderous accolade and much media attention.

Jaeha- Alex Kim was hailed as a most promising talent:

a one to watch.

His design perspective is that of risk-taker:

innovative, inspired/inspirational.

Yet, his clothes have the welcomed quality

of wearability, of fashion access.

For New York Fashion Week,  a/w  2016,

he presented a collection true to his spirit of inventiveness

featuring a modern silhouette to trouser design, which

draws the eye down to new point of interest on the garment:

the hem redefined.

‘Hemmed’ in

-a trouser focal point of long length sculptural intention

-hems that lay flat across the shoe

in a shape reminiscent of a ‘duckbill’

Incorporate the ‘duckbill’ trouser hem into your

a/w 2016  wardrobe as signature piece:

Roshi Porkar

is an up and coming womenswear designer from Austria.

For Spring 2015, Ms. Porkar was awarded the incredible honour

of presenting her first collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Berlin.

Each season ELLE and Mercedes-Benz chooses one emerging designer

as recipient of this distinction in recognition of exceptional work.

…

Attending the Ms. Porkar’s show,

was fashion maverick, the British actress Tilda Swinton –

certainly a promising indication of great things to come

for this young talented designer.

…

As demonstrated by Ms. Swinton, it is well worth

tracking the work of Roshi Porkar on the fashion radar.

Ms.  Porkar is definitely one to watch.

…

Her collection is wonderfully tactile,

a mix of seductive textures and fabrics:

wool, silk, feathers, faux fur.

There is a pronounced element of combined

luxury,  comfort, elegance –

which all beautifully marry.

…

The colours are subdued, organic with a

recurring hint of pale blue.

…

The silhouette celebrates a womanly form,

cinching at the waist, body skimming,

body friendly for all shapes.
