The American poet, writer, commentator,
jet-setter of the roaring ’20s,
friend of Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald
society set favourite and socialist-
was known by fans and foes
for her barbed words and biting wit.
In 1919 she became a founding member of the Algonquin Round Table,
a salon of writers referred to as ‘The Vicious Circle’,
who regularly meet and lunched at the Algonquin Hotel, NYC.

In addition to her literary output and outbursts,
Ms. Parker was very involved in the American Civil Rights movement.
In her will, she outlined that her entire estate
be bequeathed to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Upon his assassination in 1968, the estate of Dorothy Parker
was given to the NAACP
(The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People).
The remains of Dorothy Parker are interned in a memorial garden
on the grounds of the NAACP headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.
