Meet innovative shoe designer

Tracy Neuls

stylishly originative, gloriously comfortable, expertly crafted.

New to her collection is the

Ally Lippizan Derby Shoe

all leather

wood heels

quirky pointed toes

white hairs with contrast brown laces

…

Derby shoes are kindred designs to brogues, Oxfords, Bluchards.

A distinct feature of a traditional derby is the shoe lace eyelets construction

which are positioned on top (as opposed to beneath)

the vamp (front section) of a shoe.

Unlike the Oxford shoe, which were worn for more formal occasions-

the Derby, dating back to the 1850s,

was for casual wear, more specifically hunting / sporting events.

…

The Ally Lippizan shoe is a design nod to a classic footwear.

Visit Ms. Neuls two independent London boutiques-

located in hot-shop-spots:  Marylebonne Lane and Redchurch Street, Shoreditch.

The window displays are eye arresting (so you will stop!).

The interior decors are whimsical fun (so you will stay awhile!).

A veritable shoe feast.  Get stuck in!

David Koma

stayed true to his signature aesthetics of

framework,  form,  fit

with a collection inspired by

ancient Japanese samurai dress.

…

(image from gallery.sjsu.edu):

…

The samurai were the warriors of

medieval and pre-modern Japan.

During the Edo Period,  which lasted for

almost three hundred years (1603 – 1867)

they held the elevated status as the

highest ranking class in

Japanese hierarchical society

…

(image from tumblr.com):

Adhering to a strict code of ethics based on

Confucian and Zen Buddhist teachings

the era of the samurai valued the martial arts

as vehicle for self discipline, loyalty and honour.

…

With his  s/s 2014 collection, David Koma creates anew

the aura of power,  the precision,  the silhouette

of samurai armour all while maintaining a

defined, assured femininity …

Beautiful!

Genius!

Holi Hai!

is Hindi for … It’s Holi!

(image from fashionthroughtravel.tumblr.com):

…

The Holi Festival is the Hindu Festival of Colours.

It is widely recognised as the most

anticipated, high-spirited, exuberant and  joyous

 event in India.

….

The Festival of Colours traditionally marks the end of winter

and celebrates the beginning of spring, the harvesting of crops.

It is a day of collective public thanksgiving, when

family, friends, neighbours, strangers … everyone

welcome each other, welcome all.

(image from yetitrailadventure.com)

…

It is a day to forgive the bad of past and

usher in the future with positive sentiment of hope and promise.

…

Brightly coloured clothes are worn.

Bonfires are lit.

There is music.

There is dancing.

There are the colours.

…

Revellers splash each other with coloured water.

Dyed powders are flung into the air, landing on all in a

kaleidoscopic random array of luminous colour.

…

The Festival of Colours

source of inspiration for

optimism, aspiration and yes even

fashion … of the effervescent, jubilant mode.

…

This year, The Holi Festival is officially marked on Wednesday, 27 March 2013.

The Holi Fesitival is celebrated  in many communities throughout the world.

There may be a Festival of Colours event scheduled in your area.

…

Happy Holi!

A fashion creative’s design inspiration

can originate from a variety of references,

singular or collective:

a work of art

an artistic movement

an architectural structure

a music genre

an historical era

a personal muse

a natural phenomenon

an element in nature

a myriad of things past, present and imagined .

…

Kunihiko Morinaga,

the creative of avant garde label,  Anrealage

presented an innovative  s/s 2013 collection, which he called

Bones

…

The collection is inspired by the idea of

form, framework, structure, pattern

The grid-like shells, which outline the garments are

like exoskeletons:   a hard covering, encasing a soft interior.

The same detail is echoed in the accessories:

headwear, socks, shoes.

Extraordinary.

…

Provocative.  Organic.  Colourful.  Conceptual.

punctuated their S/S 2013 collection with

a rock and roll spin to rococo style.

The decadent playfulness synonymous

with the 18th century French artistic movement,

was in full evidence in the Meadham Kirchhoff runway show …

decorative

irreverent

humorous

flamboyant

A modern rococo extravaganza

…

Merci beaucoup, Messieurs Meadham et Kirchhoff
