As I had anticipated, one of my absolute favourite

Japanese labels did not disappoint.

Domo arigatou, matohu!

matohu for a/w 2014

presented a collection, which hit all the right styling notes

sounding an harmonious chord of:

layering

soft / subdued coordinate colours

movement

varied textiles

ease

wearability

Launched in 2005, matohu is the brainchild of design duo

Makiko Sekiguchi and Hiroyuki Horihata

designers, Makiko Sekiguchi and Hiroyuki Horihata

who are both graduates (1998) of the Men’s Design course

at the prestigious Bunka Fashion College, Tokyo.

Following graduation from Bunka, Sekiguchi and Horihata

were employed as pattern makers, respectively at

COMME des GARCONS and Yohji Yamamoto

(note the influences, which inform the matohu aesthetics)
