Music and fashion have shared a love affair of mutual satisfaction,
many times influencing the creative outpourings of the other to great effect.
This synergy is the starting point for the LFW, S/S 2013 collection of
Carlotta Actis Barone
Known as a creative with strong socio-political perspectives, which
are often echoed in her work, Ms. Barone’s inspiration for her
S/S collection stemmed for an 18thC opera of the Rococo period
The Magic Flute: music composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
libretti written by Emanuel Schikaneder.
The story is of good triumphing over evil and of love united when thought lost;
a wildly fantastical tale translated into a design statement by the uncompromising genius of
Carlotta Actis Barone.

Through use of bright colours, the spirit of the opera is evident in the collection.
Purples, oranges, greens, blues, reds, yellows sing with gusto;
some solo in solids: colour blocked and others in chorus: print- psychedelic.
Featured were high voltage coloured transparent rain jackets
vibrant, practical, fun
The stylised high teased hair and statement red painted lips to centre
was a nod to the hair creations and make-up application of the Rococo.
…
One can only wonder at the starting points of future fashion journeys
on which to embark with Ms. Barone at the helm.
Surely to be exciting.
